I probably spent a full day filling out the Electric Forest Media Request Form. That was after I had already spent a lot of time on an email I sent through to them requesting some sort of media pass first. It was one of the most in depth request forms I’ve ever filled out for a festival media pass! So of course, it broke my heart when I received an email denying my request. After I got the email, I wrote them back stating that I had already had a ticket and didn’t need the “complementary” media pass, that I just simply wanted permission to be able to bring my camera into the venue, but, I got no response.

So, I brought my camera out to Michigan anyway, with the intentions of taking pictures of my crew only at our camp compound. On Thursday, the first day of the festival, I took my GoPro into the festival grounds but when we got back to the compound, I took my (DSLR) camera out and decided to snap some pictures. As we sat around our fuzzy rug, passing the hookah around, I took the picture below of my friend Matty.

After I saw it, I just knew I had to sneak my camera in to document the forest.

So, yeah, that’s what I did.
